A Pride and Prejudice Inspired Engagement Session at Sunrise

High school sweethearts, a misty field, and a morning that felt straight out of Pride and Prejudice.

After six years together, these two celebrated their engagement with a session inspired by timeless romance. We met before the sun rose, stepping into brisk, cold air and the most beautiful foggy morning. Their long cloaks and coats fit the setting perfectly, and I loved seeing their theme come to life.

A Morning Straight Out of Pride and Prejudice

Low mist drifted across the field beneath a soft pink sky, with dark trees lining the horizon. They walked hand in hand through the tall grass, a little lantern glowing against the early morning shadows.

It reminded me so much of the scene near the end of Pride and Prejudice, when Mr. Darcy walks through the mist at dawn. The open field, the long coats, and that soft light had the same quiet, romantic feeling.

The air was chilly, but it gave them every reason to stay close! There was something so beautiful about photographing them together while the morning was still unfolding around us.

Six Years Together

Their story began in high school, and six years later, they are preparing to get married. I love photographing this season for couples—the excitement of what’s ahead, along with the closeness that comes from years of growing together.

Their engagement session gave them a little time to enjoy it all. With the fog around them and their Pride and Prejudice inspired clothing, the photographs felt both personal and wonderfully cinematic.

A Perfect Sunrise to Finish

Toward the end of our session, the fog began to burn off and sunlight came through, giving us the most beautiful morning glow.

I loved how the light changed throughout the shoot. We began with a soft pink sky and mist across the field, then finished with warm sunrise light. It gave their gallery both the moody romance they wanted and that golden light I love so much.

The weather could not have been more ideal for this session.

And when the fog begins to lift and the sunlight comes through, you may get a beautiful golden finish, just like these two did.
