A Romantic Avenue of the Giants Redwood Elopement | Humboldt County, California

They didn’t need a big wedding day to make it an unforgettable one.

There wasn’t a packed timeline or an entire day of events to rush through. She got ready with her hair professionally done by @linenandcompany and makeup by @looksbyalexah, and at 2:30pm that afternoon, she married the person she loved at the Eureka courthouse.

Simple. Intimate.

Then, at 4:30pm, they met me in the Avenue of the Giants.

For the next two hours, the day slowed down. There was nowhere else they needed to be and nothing they needed to perform. It was just the two of them, newly married, wandering through the redwoods and creating the photographs they would get to keep from this day forever.

We visited three different locations, each one giving them something completely different. We started in a spacious part of the redwoods where the towering trees had room to surround them. From there, we moved to one of those iconic long roads lined with redwoods. And we ended somewhere that felt completely different—soft, green and whimsical, with ferns covering the forest floor almost like a cozy bed beneath them.

I think that’s what I love so much about days like this.

A wedding doesn’t have to be elaborate to create beautiful memories. You can get married at the courthouse in the afternoon and spend the evening in your wedding dress, holding hands with your husband, wandering through the redwoods.

The day can be simple while the memories are anything but.
