A Romantic Surprise Proposal in Trinidad, California | Cameron & ROWAN
A little over a year together, a beautiful surprise, and the most romantic proposal overlooking the Northern California coast!
Cameron and Rowan had been together for a little over a year when Cameron planned the sweetest surprise. Rowan knew a proposal was coming someday, but had no idea when—or that Cameron already had the ring!
Cameron was planning a trip from Redding to Napa and wanted to propose somewhere along the way. He chose a coastal overlook in Trinidad, California, that already held special memories from a previous visit together.
I love when couples choose a place that means something to them. Now, this beautiful stretch of coastline would also be where they got engaged!
Planning the Surprise
Cameron and I worked out a simple plan ahead of time. I would wear a red jacket so he could easily spot me, keep my camera tucked away, and pretend to be another visitor enjoying the view.
When they arrived, they spent a few minutes soaking in the scenery together while I waited nearby.
The fog was slowly rolling along the coastline, and we stayed right on the edge of it for most of our time together. The soft light and misty ocean views created such a dreamy, romantic setting.
Then Cameron got down on one knee!
That was my cue to pull out my camera and photograph the moment. Rowan was completely surprised. Knowing a proposal might happen someday is so different from realizing it’s happening right now!
Engagement Photos Along the Trinidad Coast
After the proposal, we spent some time taking engagement photos. I love this part—the excitement is fresh, and the couple gets to enjoy those first moments of being engaged together.
We started on the grassy hillside overlooking the Pacific Ocean, with coastal cliffs stretching out behind them and fog drifting along the shore. Then we made our way down to the beach to finish their session.
Trinidad offers such beautiful variety, from dramatic overlooks to romantic moments beside the water. For Cameron and Rowan, this place now held another memory to return to.
