There’s something about the redwoods that already feels enchanted. The towering trees, the filtered light, the hush of the forest—it’s the kind of place where imagination feels close to the surface. Lately, I’ve been leaning fully into that magic by offering a special add-on to my redwood portrait sessions: handcrafted fairy wings, digitally illustrated and added to select images.

This isn’t an AI overlay or a generic graphic. These wings are custom artwork, designed and illustrated in Procreate by my daughter, who began creating them at just 14 years old (she’s now 16). She has an incredible eye for detail and movement, and she masterfully designs each set of wings to complement the pose, lighting, and mood of the photograph. Together, we turn a beautiful portrait into something truly storybook.

A Creative Collaboration

This process is a collaboration from start to finish. I photograph the session with this magical transformation in mind—soft light, intentional movement, and a sense of wonder already built into the frame. From there, my daughter carefully designs and places the wings so they feel natural, ethereal, and connected to the subject rather than simply added on top.

Each fairy image is treated as a standalone art piece and the final result feels whimsical, imaginative, and deeply personal.

A Fun Add-On to Any Redwood Session

For clients who want to add this fairytale touch, fairy wings can be added to a selected image for an additional $100. This fee goes directly to my daughter for her artwork and time. The finished piece is then included in your online gallery alongside the rest of your images.

It’s a beautiful option for children, dancers, creatives, or anyone who wants something playful and imaginative—especially in a setting as magical as the redwoods of Humboldt County.
